BC Hydro Engages with District of Chetwynd to Provide Fast Charging Stations for EVs
With BC Hydro fully funding the design and construction of EV fast charge stations throughout the province, the search for a suitable location in Chetwynd is still ongoing.
While BC Hydro has been engaging private business owners to install fast charging stations on privately-owned land, the inability to identify a suitable site has BC Hydro now engaging the district to determine a site.
BC Hydro is looking for a site that provides 24 hour access, is close to major roadways, close to amenities such as washrooms, and is well lit at night. Access to sufficient power systems is also key.
Two such sites have been identified - one in the parking lot area of the Chetwynd Visitors Centre and the other on "Carver's Row" across the North Access Road from The Riverhouse Restaurant.
If the charging station is approved the next step would be to draft a license agreement for the District's review as the District would continue to own the land. Once that process is completed then the design and construction phases could begin.
